Onboarding

In practice, onboarding comprises 3 interrelated processes: The onboarding for new employees, onboarding for the Operations Division employees and onboarding for new managers (as part of the internal promotion path).

1. The onboarding process for new employees takes 2 days. During the first day, the employees learn about the general principles of work (the mandatory OHS and information security rules, and how to use company apps and the intranet), and are guided around the company premises, familiarising themselves with the location of individual departments and rooms, and are introduced to all teams. They receive a welcome pack, comprising the Code of Ethics, the Handbook, the guide ‘What should you know about working at BEST?’ and a set of useful company gadgets. On the second day, the employees participate in a whole-day training course ‘BEST in a nutshell’, which is a series of presentations by representatives from all divisions, who familiarise the participants with the company’s business, the nature of the work in the respective divisions, and provide information on the financial and claims market.

2. The onboarding process for the employees of the Operations Division also includes learning about the operation of IT systems, and rules for claims management and customer service, which is of key importance for this particular group of employees. Employees preparing to work in the Call Centre undergo a two-month training cycle, which includes additional training components every 2 weeks within two months from the moment of hiring as part of the ‘Green Avenue’ onboarding programme, which was awarded in 2014 during the ‘Telemarketer of the Year’ contest. The programme focuses on supporting employees in the work environment through measures such as on the job coaching.

3. The onboarding programme for new managers is addressed to employees who have been promoted from a specialist to a managerial position and who have little or no experience in managing a team. The programme is intended to support employees in developing their managerial skills. New Manager training may have the form of workshops for a group of employees or face-to-face meetings in the case of individual promotions. This series of workshops may include additional coaching sessions, depending on the readiness of the individual concerned.

BEST’s onboarding process was recognised in the Responsible Business in Poland 2015. Best Practice and Responsible Business in Poland 2016. Best Practice.
